Pick of the Litter Shoppe

Pick of the Litter Shoppe sells new and gently used clothing, books, bedding, antiques and many novelties. Profits help support The Animal Advocates of Barnwell County which rescues animals from the county’s shelter.

Their Story

Realizing that the local county shelter often had a euthanasia rate as high as 98%, the Animal Advocates knew something had to be done. The Animal Advocates is a non-profit organization made up of a diverse group of people with the same common goal – to make a difference in the lives of the cats and dogs in our community. In 2006, the Advocates opened the Pick of the Litter Thrift Shoppe which was able to fund a No Cost/Low Cost spay and neuter program. In 2013, they opened the Friends for Life Foster and Adoption Center which pulls adoptable animals from the Barnwell County Animal Shelter that would otherwise be euthanized. The Center enables them to give these animals the medical attention that they need before being adopted into loving, furever homes.
