Juneteenth

The City of Aiken will come alive with music, history, culture and community pride as residents and visitors gather for the Juneteenth Celebration, a dynamic, family-friendly event commemorating freedom, resilience, and African American heritage. Each year, the Center for African American History, Art and Culture hosts a festive and celebratory event commemorating the historical significance of June 19, 1865—the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. The event features engaging activities, live entertainment, cultural demonstrations, artists and local vendors.

Admission is free. Check our calendar for upcoming events.
