Historic Marker
This turn-of-the-century barn is a notable example of eclectic Victorian, brick, U-shaped barn design and construction. It has a rare working early 20th century carriage lift. In 1909, David W. Gaston, Sr. (1860-1931) acquired the barn and surrounding farmland from the local Steadman family and opened a livery business here with his son. The business rented and boarded horses for use around town and performed maintenance on horse-drawn vehicles. It closed in 1932, but the barn continued to be uses as part of a working farm for several decades.
