Chartered in 1893, the town grew out of an early community centered around Owens’ Crossroads.

Did you know the Town of Fairfax originally had two names? The first was Campbellton after the train stop in the area Campbellton Station. The second was Sanders, after key members of the small community with that last name. However, this was confusing so soon after the South Bound Rail Road crossing was completed, proposed names were placed into a hat and drawn. To think, this town could have been easily been named something else!
