Aiken State Park
Built in 1934 by two Civilian Conservation Corps companies, one of which was an African-American detachment. This park offers a diverse range of outdoor activities, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts. Located along the free-flowing Edisto River, the park features a unique combination of river swamps and dry sandhills. Visitors can enjoy fishing in one of the four park ponds, paddling along the scenic river or exploring nature trails perfect for birding and hiking. Other amenities include a playground, a seasonal swimming area and orienteering. Pet friendly.
Canoe and kayak rentals are available, but reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance through the park office. Reservations for state park campsite and picnic shelter can be reserved online.
