Nestled in the heart of Aiken’s historic district, Aiken Horse Park is a premier equestrian event facility and home to Bruce’s Field. The park has six all weather rings and three schooling arenas all featuring GGT Footing, 624 permanent stalls and space for additional temporary stabling. In addition, the Horse Park covers 66-acres providing an open and spacious atmosphere, with plenty of room for horses and riders to stretch their legs outside of the rings.
Aiken Horse Park hosts a variety of dressage, eventing and hunter/jumper shows throughout the year including their annual Grand Prix and Charity Horse Show. All events are open to spectators. Most events are free with a few ticketed events throughout the year. Visitors should use the Audubon Drive gate and follow the signs for parking. While there is limited bleacher seating scattered around the park, guests are encouraged to bring a bag chair or picnic blanket to enjoy the action from all angles around the park. As Aiken Horse Park is an outdoor venue, comfortable, weather-appropriate attire is recommended. ADA accommodations are available. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash at all times.
Closed to the public outside of scheduled events. Visit our calendar for events.
Their Story
When Bruce Duchossois, one of the country’s leading Eventing competitors, acquired 66-acres of Aiken’s Historic Horse District in 2000, he did so with a vision of its past, present and future as a fixture of Aiken’s equestrian tradition. While his immediate goal was to save the land from residential development, Bruce’s dream was to grow it into South Carolina’s premier equestrian facility while maintaining its historic character.
Following the examples of stewardship and generosity by the generations of previous owners, and knowing that he might not live long enough to see his dream realized, Bruce created a foundation to ensure that his vision of “Bruce’s Field” may provide future generations with a place to hold the kinds of events that he cherished—old-fashioned venues with character and integrity, where riders from top level amateur, professional and Olympians from across the country and the world can come several times a season to compete on the best quality surfaces for the benefit and enjoyment of all residents and visitors.
The mission of the Aiken Horse Park Foundation is to promote Aiken’s equestrian way of life and to encourage the community’s civic, educational and charitable endeavors. Their vision is to honor and preserve Bruce’s legacy by maintaining and enhancing Bruce’s Field as the pinnacle of equestrian excellence in the United States. They are committed to nurturing this historic property, blending state-of-the-art facilities with the cherished heritage of the land and community. Inspired by Bruce’s dedication to stewardship and generosity, the foundation partners with our community to support charitable, educational and civic initiatives.
