Event Name: Aiken Symphony Orchestra presents Bernstein Centenary
Event Occurs: Once
Event Description: Few composers capture their time and become the iconic voice of their age like Leonard Bernstein. "Leonard Bernstein at 100" is the worldwide celebration of the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein, the composer, conductor, educator, musician, cultural ambassador and humanitarian. The Aiken Symphony Orchestra pays homage to the man who gave us the music of West Side Story, On the Town, and Candide.

In an era when some composers were waging an assault on jazz, George Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F Major took the classical music world by storm. Pianist Xiayin wang, an artist of keen musicality and sweeping virtuosity, performs the concerto. She has made numerous celebrated recordings and has performed throughout the world from New York's Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to music centers in South America, Europe, and Asia.
